Gift vouchers

Many retail businesses will allow their customers to purchase gift vouchers as presents for friends and family. These vouchers can then be redeemed as full or partial payment for goods at a later date.

ProEPOS allows you to generate and print barcoded gift vouchers directly from the POS screen onto the attached receipt printer.

Selling gift vouchers

To sell a gift voucher use the GIFT VOUCHER button on the manager's keypad.

The system will prompt for the value of the gift voucher:

Enter the amount and tap the ENTER button. The gift voucher will be added to the visit and will be printed on the receipt printer before the main receipt.

Note

That you can VOID a gift voucher if it is printed in error.

Redeeming a gift voucher

You will notice that gift vouchers produced by the system have a barcode. To redeem the voucher simply scan through the goods being purchased by the customer, total the visit and then scan the barcode on the voucher.

If, for whatever reason, the barcode will not scan (e.g. it has become too badly worn) simply enter the digits manually on the keyboard. Failing that, it is possible to manually tender a voucher payment using the VOUCHER payment type.

If the voucher amount is less than the value of the goods being purchased, additional payments can be tendered (e.g. cash, card, cheque, etc).

If the voucher amount exceeds the value of the goods being purchased, a voucher to the value of the change due will be automatically printed by the system.

Although you should retain any used vouchers, once a voucher has been redeemed it cannot be redeemed again and is flagged as ‘used’ on the system.
